Occupation: State Representative, House District 22
Prior Governmental Experience:
“It is an honor to serve North Salem and Woodburn as your Representative. I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished to make Oregon a state where everybody can thrive, but I know there is still much more to do. I look forward to earning your vote so we can continue working together for our community.” – Teresa
Investing in Education. Teresa has dedicated her life to helping students. In 2019, she passed the Student Success Act, bringing $1 billion/year in additional investments to our K-12 public schools and early childhood education. Schools in our community will see new funding to invest in lowering class size, programs to help English-language learners, and ensuring students have access to counselors and nurses.
She’ll keep fighting to ensure college and career training is accessible and affordable to every student.
Fighting for Working Families. As a child of migrant farmworkers, Teresa knows what it’s like to struggle. She is proud to have passed landmark legislation, like Paid Family & Medical Leave, so every Oregonian can afford to care for a loved one when they get sick, and the Safe Kids and Healthy Farmworkers Act, to protect workers from cancer-causing chemicals in the workplace.
Protecting Seniors. Oregon seniors deserve to be treated with respect. That is why Teresa passed legislation to keep drug companies from hiking prices and banned no-cause evictions so more seniors on fixed incomes can afford to stay in their homes.
